Kat Jenkins is a homegrown Nevadan, briefly an Oregonian, and currently a Chicago based Poet. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Willamette University in 2024. In 2026 her MFA in Black Literature and Creative Writing is underway at Chicago State University. Jenkins’ main passion is performance poetry. She has performed at podcast launches, political summits, speaking events, and workshops, as well as on campus’s and inside Oregon’s State Prison. She believes that community storytelling has the power to heal, and that all Black and Brown people have the right to reclaim their stories from dominant narratives. Right now Jenkins’ is working on a memoir about growing up at the intersections of race, class, faith, and technology.
